Gouache & Acrylic, 2019

The helmet falls.
Fresh air hits my face.
The burden is lifted,
I can quicken my pace.

The armor had almost grown to me,
as I hid inside my metal shell.
I forgot it could be taken off.
I had worn it so long so well.

It is scary to hear my armor fall,
and know arrows may pierce my chest.
But the rush of freedom, being fully seen.
Without a doubt I know its best.

The armor may protect you,
but it also holds you back,
from giving the world your uniqueness,
and showing up where it lacks.
